I had to report my postman I hate doing this, and I'm very annoyed. For some reason our postman hates us. It has been going on for years and we have never done anything to deserve it. We even leave him Christmas gifts and gave him a "thank you for working through present.

So he has always been salty but the first major incident was when our dog barked at him through the window. She's old, blind, mostly deaf, and has alzheimers. Also, she was inside the house, unable to reach him. He said, if you don't close this window (the one she barked through) when I come I won't deliver.

Okay no problem. We shut the window. He didn't deliver for A WEEK. I had to put up a sign saying "the window is closed" AND trll him directly "it is closed now!!" Before we got our mail.

He also does his route with a Bluetooth earpiece in chatting on the phone so if you do need to speak to him, you can't, because he can't hear you.

So now he comes up and throws our mail on our porch. Nothing wrong with the mailbox. Nothing wrong with the porch. So when it is raining or windy, there goes my mail! Soggy and ruined.

9 times out of 10 he won't take my outgoing mail even if I put a "USPS PLEASE TAKE ME" note on it. Now I just wait untili got afew things and go to the drop box. Bear in mind you can see my mailbox from where he parks his car. You can very clearly see if there is out going mail.

Last winter he started a new thing where he won't deliver our mail if there is even a speck of snow on the path or steps. I'm disabled and I don't walk very well, so my family keeps the steps and driveway very clear. Also, he delivers to everybody else even if he's walking through several inches of snow.

Yesterday we got our first bit of snow that stuck. We have about 1/4 to 1/2 inch on the driveway. He walked across my snowy yard to my porch, threw my mail in the snow on said porch, then told me that he won't deliver unless there's a clear path from the road to the mailbox.

So I reported him. I hate doing that. But this is petty and stupid and I am not dealing with it anymore. Turns out his wife is a postmaster at a different branch so maybe he thinks he can do what he wants? Idk. I'm fed the frick up with this guy. I've lived here 11 years and he's been an for the last 5 of them. It wasn't until 3years ago it got bad, and this last two have been ridiculous.

So we shall see what happens. Probably gonna on my mail now. Update 12/14: the mail office got back to me by letter. Evidently our poor post man is at serious risk to life and limb because our porch steps are...crooked. (bear in mind, he walked up those highly dangerous steps to deliver this notice lol) I'm disabled with a spinal cord injury and I use them.

They don't wobble or anything. One side settled about 1/4" further down than the other. There are 3 steps, and the bottom one is about 2 inches above the level of the ground. The total height is maybe 3 feet.

Anyway we have ordered a box that we will put at the base of the steps so as to save this poor man the danger of those highly deadly steps.
  • 13
Come spring, we will have a guy we just had redo our bathroom cone out and replace those deadly steps.

Ill let you guys know if he actually uses the new box or continues to throw the mail on the porch. I also subscribed to informed delivery so I'll know when he's simply refusing to deliver. Bear in mind here that he has never one single time said anything about the steps being dangerous or anything like that.

Update 12/17: My husband is a 70-something British guy who looks kinda like Rincewind from Discworld. Gentle and quiet. Because I am neither gentle nor quiet, we decided he would be the one to speak to Mr Postman.

We have purchased a post box and placed it on the edge of the porch where he can reach it without climbing the steps. Postman said that is fine. My husband requested he tell us when there is a problem, rather than throw our mail into puddles for years and then make up an excuse (he said it much nicer than this, though). Postman agreed.

He has delivered our mail without incident for a few days. We can't fix the crooked steps until spring so that's it for now.

What infuriates me is, the steps he's complaining about, we built like 3 years ago because the cement steps that were there had melted and fallen apart (they were ~50 years old). When we took those down and replaced them with these steps, the Postman thanked us for making it safer for him. And then decided it was too dangerous to use.
